Here an intricate pattern with strongly defined cast shadows provides the opportunity to  develop a composition of energetic balance and structure in an arrangement of  interlocking colours and shapes. The dynamic of the grille and the shadows behind  contrast with each other in a fixed shallow pictorial space. The statue and the park  beyond, seen through the window, creates an extra interplay of visual elements in a  pictorial depth, in strong contrast with the immediate presence of the grille.
