This painting concentrates attention on line, shape and colour patterns, rhythms and  balances to create a coherently structured composition. So, although at first viewing the  painting may seem to be purely figurative, to be about carpets hanging on a balcony  railing of a whitewashed Greek island house, it is in fact based every bit as much on a  non-representational compositional preoccupation with line, shape and colour pictorial  geometry.
